El feminismo ha venido a sacudir las estructuras sociales. Es el gran movimiento social de mediados del Siglo XX a la actualidad y el que más poder de cambio ha mostrado, ganando derechos para las mujeres año con año y poniendo sobre la mesa debates de las inequidades sociales históricas que venimos arrastrando desde el comienzo de nuestro modelo de sociedad.
Pese a que hay un clima de polarización en torno al feminismo, se debe dejar claro sobre todo la validez de sus postulados y rehuir de las descalificaciones hacia el movimiento. También, debemos comprender que gran parte de su mérito pasa por las distintas corrientes interiores que nutren al feminismo y que es un movimiento teórico y social con muchas realidades.
El feminismo es un movimiento social y político que supone la toma de conciencia de las mujeres como grupo o colectivo humano, de la opresión, dominación, y explotación de que han sido y son objeto por parte del colectivo de varones en el seno del patriarcado bajo sus distintas fases históricas de modelo de producción, lo cual las mueve a la acción para la liberación de su sexo con todas las transformaciones de la sociedad.
La teórica Angela Davis refiere que el feminismo es la idea radical que las mujeres son personas. Es la ideología política que hace visibles las relaciones de poder, los roles de género y las desigualdades del sistema patriarcal. Y no se trata de un movimiento exclusivo en las mujeres, sino que también obliga al género masculino a replantearse las ideas de auto-percepción: como por ejemplo el forzar a los hombres de ser de determinada manera.
Para contextualizar históricamente, estos son a grandes rasgos los logros más importantes en la historia del feminismo:
Primera ola feminista: derecho a voto para la mujer
El feminismo de primera ola, las llamadas sufragistas son las que consiguen este importante derecho para empezar a posicionarse como sujetos políticos autosuficientes e independientes. Antaño censurado el voto al colectivo de mujeres, el voto suponía entrar a la vida pública y a la toma de decisión de la misma forma que el hombre.
Segunda ola: Apropiarse de su propio cuerpo
La década de los 60’s supuso una ruptura y una revolución social. El segundo sexo de Simone de Beauvior fue la punta de lanza de la segunda ola del feminismo. El objetivo de la segunda ola es que las mujeres puedan decidir sobre sus carreras profesionales (el derecho a estudiar carreras universitarias, insertarse como sujetos activos económicamente) y sobre sus cuerpos, apropiarse de su autonomía sobre su integridad física y decidir su vida amorosa y familiar, si quiere contraer matrimonio y si quiere o no tener hijos.
Tercera ola: Igualdad en los espacios de poder
La tercera ola se da en la visagra de las décadas 80’s y 90’s-. Su búsqueda es la de la igualdad jurídica en el mercado laboral, la meta es lograr la igualdad real en la práctica y tener una representación simbólica y política en los espacios de poder (representantes políticos, empresariales, sindicales).
Paralelamente, el feminismo de tercera ola lucha y pone a debate la idea de lo que supone ser mujer y hombre; la revalorización del ser femenino como fuente de conocimiento y el reconocimiento de la diversidad.
Cuarta ola: Derecho a una vida libre de violencias y deconstrucción del género
La cuarta ola del feminismo es la más global e internacionalista. Las redes sociales y el internet ayuda a una solidarización mundial sin perder en cuenta las agendas regionales. Sin embargo, los objetivos pasan por dos posturas: una sociedad libre de violencia hacia las mujeres (real y simbólica), así como el subvertir los roles de género.
