De todos lados nos dicen que la amistad es uno de los sentimientos más puros que puede haber. Y puede que haya mucha razón en eso pero ¿qué pasa si alguno de tus amigos se vuelve una carga? ¿ o si cada vez que lo ves terminas drenado mentalmente? Hay que saber identificar muy bien cuando una relación de amistad se vuelve tóxica: recuerda que una amistad debe ser una relación recíproca, donde las dos personas se empujen para mejorar, se alegren de los éxitos del otro, se ayuden a navegar los tiempos difíciles y en general, estén ahí en las buenas o en las malas.
Sin embargo, las amistades también van evolucionando y cambiando. Las personas cambian y es normal que si se conocieron en la preparatoria, pasados los años, no sea lo mismo. Hasta ahí, todo normal, el problema es cuando la amistad se convierte en una relación asimétrica. Si crees que estás pasando por algo similar, puedes valorar lo siguiente:
- Deja de idealizar
Los años que pasaron en la escuela fueron fantásticos, mágicos y seguramente los vas a atesorar por el resto de tu vida. Pero todo cambia, todo evoluciona. Si tu amistad con esa persona está basada en esos tiempos en vez de lo que pasa en el presente, es difícil que la cosa cambie. Idealiza y tener nostalgia por tiempos pasados es una forma de ceguera.
- Aprender a decir que no
Muchas personas con relaciones de amistad tóxica no se dan cuenta de que se aprovechan de ellos de una u otra forma. Desde el hecho de que tú siempre lo escuches o ayudes y la otra persona no hace lo mismo cuando tú ocupas algo, ya hay un desbalance en la relación que no debes pasar por alto. Pon límites a la relación, aprende a decir que no y prioriza tu tiempo y salud mental.
- La virtud de cerrar ciclos
Siempre es bueno dar un cierre. Si has puesto en la balanza los pros y los contras y has decidido que lo mejor para ti es cortar de tajo la amistad, hazlo de la forma más respetuosa y amable. Cerrar círculos y fases de la vida ayuda a tener fuerzas para los nuevos inicios que se ven en el horizonte.
- No guardes rencor
La vida fluye, recuerda los buenos tiempos y concientízate de que muchos amigos van y vienen, es parte de la experiencia humana. Guardar rencor es nocivo para todos. Dedícale una carta y desea lo mejor para aquella persona.
