La educación es el motor del desarrollo personal. Es la que nos provee las herramientas-intelectuales, académicas, sociales- para poder mejorar. Por eso los padres se quiebran la cabeza cuando es tiempo de meter a sus hijos a la escuela. Sea primaria, secundaria, preparatoria e incluso Universidad, la pregunta más común entre las madres y los padres es: ¿cuál es la mejor escuela para mis hijos? ¿qué escuela garantiza una educación de alto nivel?
Siendo una de las cuestiones más importantes en la vida académica de nuestros hijos, es necesario tener varios elementos de análisis para tomar la decisión:
¿Cuáles son las claves para seleccionar una buena escuela?
- Identificar los gustos y fortalezas de tus hijos
Cada niña y niño tienen sus formas de aprender y un tipo de inteligencia que sobresale sobre las demás. Como padres es nuestro deber saber cuáles son sus fuertes y buscar fortalecerla, aunque sin dejar de lado las otras esferas del conocimiento. Dependiendo de ese diagnóstico se puede ir filtrando las instituciones educativas que más nos convengan.
- Investiga el método de enseñanza
Si se ha decidido optar por una escuela privada es necesario que los padres investiguen cuál es el método de enseñanza que esas instituciones utilizan y si tienen una orientación pedagógica concreta. También es importante ver cuáles son las áreas donde más sobresale el colegio y si esas áreas empatan con las de nuestros hijos.
- Revisa el programa de idiomas
En un mundo globalizado es indispensable inculcarles la educación bilingüe a nuestros pequeños. Mientras más pequeños inicien el aprendizaje de otros idiomas, más fácil lo van a aprender. Es necesario ver qué tan efectivo es el programa de idiomas de la escuela.
- Buena oferta de actividades extracurriculares
Las actividades extraescolares son importantes para que el niño pueda desarrollar otras competencias y habilidades. Enséñale la oferta extracurricular a tus hijos para que ellos vean qué les puede gustar o por cuál sienten curiosidad.
- Que tenga Sociedad de Padres activa
Uno de los puntos claves de la educación es que los padres estén involucrados con los maestros y autoridades de la escuela. Una Sociedad de Padres que esté activa garantiza una mayor integración y mejor comunicación en el proceso educativo así como una mejor forma de solucionar los inconvenientes que puedan surgir.
- Que cuente con buena ubicación y horario
Aunque no es un tema exclusivo de la educación, la ubicación de la escuela y los horarios son vitales para las dinámicas familiares. De preferencia debe estar cercano al hogar o tu oficina de trabajo para no perder mucho tiempo en los recorridos. Hay Escuelas y colegios que ofrecen servicio de transporte, eso es una ventaja por si tu trabajo es muy demandante.
