Un seguro de gastos médicos mayores es un producto financiero que garantiza cubrir con los gastos generados por una enfermedad o un accidente del titular y los beneficiaros de la póliza.
- ¿Qué factores hacen que varíen los precios?
Edad, sexo, ocupación, plan, hospitales de preferencia, médico, el tiempo en que pagarás el seguro (ya sea que pagues mensual o anualmente), el deducible y el coaseguro, son elementos que podrán aumentar o disminuir el costo del seguro.
2. ¿Ah qué se refieren con deducible y coaseguro?
El coaseguro es un porcentaje que se aplica al monto de los gastos que se requieran, derivados de un accidente o enfermedad. Por así decirlo, es la cantidad máxima que pagarás sin importar el monto que se requiera.
El deducible es una cantidad fija que no se reembolsa y se cubre cuando se presente una enfermedad o accidente, pero no deben ser mayores al importe establecido, para que la obligación que tiene la aseguradora proceda respectivamente.

Recuerda que casi ninguna póliza cubre los accidentes relacionados por estar en estado de ebriedad o efectos de alguna droga. Tampoco cubren enfermedades pre-exisitentes, ni accidentes derivados de deportes o actividades extremas. Es muy importante que cuando actives la póliza expliques en que casos quieres utilizarla. También estarán fuera los gastos extras cuando el asegurado se encuentre en el hospital, como botellas de agua, productos de higiene, servicios de belleza, etc.

No sólo se utiliza para emergencias o accidentes, también para la prevención y detección temprana de posibles enfermedades. Esto está estipulado en la nueva ley de Instituciones de seguros y fianzas que permite a las aseguradoras, agregar más beneficios de prevención en sus productos.
