Las redes sociales guardan y difunden información clave sobre las personas, que son tomadas muy en cuenta por los empleadores a la hora de buscar trabajo, antes de que suceda la famosa entrevista presencial.

Las personas utilizan con demasiada frecuencia cuentas personales de Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube y otros medios sociales, para expresar opiniones, puntos de vista, declaraciones de su estado de ánimo, publicación de imágenes y videos que suelen ser muy reveladores sobre sus gustos, tendencias, nivel intelectual, apariencia y una serie de datos que son oro molido para las áreas de RH.

Simplemente el dar un like o reenviar una imagen o comentario, con fines de esparcimiento o para asumir una postura política, social o de cualquier preferencia, dice mucho de la personalidad de los individuos.

Parecería que la información que la gente hace pública sobre su vida está sustituyendo a los análisis psicológicos, que tradicionalmente han elaborado los ejecutivos encargados de evaluar y/o recomendar a un posible empleado. Esto puede ser bueno o malo para las personas, dependiendo de qué están proyectando en sus cuentas sociales.

¿Cómo influyen las redes a la hora de buscar trabajo? Según los expertos

Alfredo Vela, un experto y estudioso de los fenómenos relacionados con Internet y la vida digital, dirige desde Valladolid, España, la firma TICs y Formación, que promueve la capacitación para el trabajo por medios digitales. Él está convencido de que las redes sociales son la primera entrevista de trabajo a la que se somete un candidato, tal vez la más importante, muchas veces sin que éste se entere.

Explica que “sus datos públicos hablan por él: Si publica expresiones como: ‘Ya es lunes de nuevo, qué flojera’, o ‘Por fin es viernes, vámonos de fiesta y a olvidar el trabajo’… Eso retrata a una persona que no le gusta trabajar y que le pesa demasiado la responsabilidad”.

A la hora de buscar trabajo, también la reputación on line es fundamental: Si pertenece a tal o cual grupo, si apoya ciertas causas o muestra simpatías por otras, todo influye en la construcción de la imagen propia, de la reputación que no se puede ocultar. A eso se suma la evaluación de habilidades básicas que para los empleadores son muy importantes y nunca pasarán de moda, como la forma de expresarse, la calidad del lenguaje, la redacción y la ortografía, etc.

La gente gusta de subir información que retrata fielmente cuáles son sus afectos, sus preferencias o actitudes ante la vida: Desde fotos familiares hasta expresiones destructivas o conflictivas, hábitos, costumbres, etc.

Todo lo que está en línea importa y hoy en día es lo primero que se evalúa a la hora de considerar a alguien para un puesto de trabajo. “A veces nos preguntamos por qué nunca nos llaman para una entrevista de trabajo”, señala Alfredo Vela. “La respuesta es clara: Porque ya alguien te evaluó y analizó tus perfiles en las redes sociales, y te descartó”.

De ahí la importancia de construir y mantener una buena reputación en línea. Se pueden expresar posiciones políticas o religiosas muy firmes, pero debe cuidarse siempre el lenguaje, mostrar respeto y tolerancia hacia los demás, demostrar preparación, educación y cultura general que genere confianza y respeto, eliminando cualquier fuente de conflicto.

Las redes sociales no son el demonio que condena, pero sí son una referencia que puede abrirte las puertas del cielo o del infierno. Depende de cómo y para qué las uses y de que nunca olvides que en Internet siempre hay alguien que está observando.
